I’m absolutely thrilled to have been nominated for the Liebster Award- my first award on WordPress so far- by fellow blogger Shatrunjay Singh.
2018 seems to be a good start for my blog and, with many ideas in mind, I earnestly hope I can work towards constantly improving and advancing my blog!
Here are my responses to the questions put forth by Shatrunjay. Hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!
1. Why did you get in writing?
There wasn’t a specific moment when I “got” in writing. Writing has always been something that has appealed to me. Being someone that feels handicapped when it comes to expressing emotions, writing has always served as an outlet of expression for me; a comfortable domain wherein my thoughts and feelings are penned almost effortlessly.
2. What’s that one event in your life which taught you the most?
The one event in my life which taught me the most was the demise of my beautiful grandmother. The moment, extremely unprecedented, was when the transience of this life was foisted on me, unadulterated and daunting. It was an event that fostered a renewed and strengthened relationship between me and writing; I began to surmise writing as the sole entity I could rely on.
3. What’s the one thing you like about yourself and why?
The one thing I like about myself is my unceasing sarcasm. I enjoy the fact that my wit can light up the room. There’s nothing better than making a snarky remark/comeback and hearing the anticipated laughter.
4. Who is your favourite writer and why?
I have many favourite writers but I my ultimate favourite is Khaled Hosseini. His intertwining character developments and meticulous descriptions are soul stirring and the competency of his craft is truly remarkable.
5. What is your definition of being successful in life?
My definition of being successful in life is, regardless of how underestimated/cliché it may sound, to be really satisfied, content and just happy with where I am in life. These days, happiness has become something we tirelessly seek through inordinate means when really it might be right around us, if we choose to look and accept it. Happiness & success isn’t always a mansion and a sports car, often times, its simply friends, family and the blessing of being loved by someone you love.
6. How do you handle fear in life?
I’d like to heroically say that “I face my fears head-on” but I’m actually someone that can’t deal with fear easily. I often find myself in denial before the impending doom and, when the fear actually does hit, I endure it with sweaty palms and restless nights, waiting for it to pass. Clearly, this is something I need to work on.
7. Given a chance, will you change anything about you?
Oh my, I’ll definitely change up quite a few things. Mainly, I’d love to change my inability to express and my indecisiveness. Don’t know which one more though.
8. Who is your favourite author and why?
Oops, this was my answer for question 4. Guess I should have read the questions before hand! But, to add to Khaled Hosseini, I absolutely admire Kamila Shamsie.
9. What inspires you the most about writing?
As mentioned earlier, writing for me is a powerful means of expression and so naturally, that happens to be the thing that most inspires me about writing i.e. the beauty of an almost magical outlet of expression and creativity.
10. Give yourself a tagline.
Fantasist by nature, optimist by practice!
